Frequently asked questions

Care and use

Is it dishwasher safe?

Mugs, bowls, plates and jugs are dishwasher and microwave safe. One-offs and anything in the bronze glaze are best washed by hand, and bronze glazes shouldn’t go in the microwave.

Read the care guide

Why does mine look different from the photo?

Every pot is handmade and glazes move in the kiln, so each one is a little different. That is the good bit.

Orders and delivery

Do you deliver across South Africa?

Yes, by door-to-door courier: 2-4 working days to the main centres, including Johannesburg, Pretoria and Durban, and 3-7 working days to regional areas.

Delivery details

Can I collect my order?

Yes. Choose studio collection at checkout and we will email you when it is ready to collect in Cape Town.

Why is handmade pottery more expensive?

Every pot is thrown or built by hand, dried slowly, trimmed, painted and fired twice, and a few don’t survive the kiln. You are paying for hours of work on one piece rather than a factory run.

What are seconds?

Pots with small glaze runs, speckles or wobbles. They work perfectly and cost less.

Commissions

Do you take commissions?

Yes: hand-painted personalised mugs, crockery for restaurants and cafés, wedding pieces and one-offs.

How commissions work

How long does a commission take?

Usually 6 to 10 weeks from approving the sketch, because every piece is thrown, dried and fired twice.

Pottery classes

Do you run pottery classes?

Not yet. Faith is planning pottery classes at her studio in Cape Town. Join the waiting list to hear dates and prices first.
